When to choose ASA
ASA is the outdoor ABS. Patio fixtures, garden hose brackets, mailbox parts, signage, license-plate frames, solar-panel mounts, roof-mounted antenna housings, outdoor camera cases, and anything in direct sun more than a few hours a day.
When to pick something else
If the part is indoors, ABS is cheaper and identical mechanically — save the markup. Skip ASA for food-contact (use PETG) or transparent needs (use PC).

DESIGN TIPS
Designing for ASA
- 01Same print/design rules as ABS — enclosed chamber, 3 perimeters, shrinkage compensation.
- 02For heavy UV exposure, additional top-coat paint extends life further.
- 03Pair with stainless hardware for outdoor fixtures; avoid carbon-steel fasteners that rust.
