WHAT SD3D PRINTING DOES BETTER
Things we'll acknowledge openly
No shop is best at everything. Here's where SD3D Printing wins.
- ◆Multi-process — if you need FDM + SLA + SLS + CNC from one PO, they're set up for it
- ◆HP MJF lets them print functional nylon parts at production-grade quality/consistency
- ◆Injection molding and soft tooling in-house means they can take a prototype to low-volume production without handoffs
- ◆Three locations (SD, LA, Dallas) — better for teams spread across those metros
- ◆Same-block neighbor in Miramar — genuinely local
- ◆Their Printelize quoting platform is sophisticated (they sell it as SaaS)
Why we say this out loud: because if you need something SD3D Printing genuinely does better, pushing you to us helps nobody. We'd rather earn your trust now by being honest, and earn your next order when the job matches what we do.
vs SD3D Printing FAQ
Is TAKT 3D cheaper than SD3D?+
For one-off orders: almost always yes, because SD3D's best rate ($0.18/cm³ blended) requires a $999/yr membership you'd have to amortize. For heavy-volume members doing 5,000+ grams/month, SD3D can be competitive. We publish our rates; compare directly at /pricing.
Should I use TAKT 3D or SD3D for a production run?+
Depends on the process. If you need 500 FDM parts and fit our build volume, we're a good fit and our bulk tier auto-applies (up to 40% at 5000+ units). If you need SLS nylon or HP MJF parts at production quality, SD3D is the right call.
Does SD3D do CNC machining?+
Yes — SD3D offers CNC alongside their 3D printing and casting services. TAKT 3D is FDM 3D printing only. If your job combines 3D-printed parts with CNC-machined fixtures, SD3D can do both under one PO.
You're literally the same block — why pick TAKT over SD3D?+
If your job is FDM-only and you want transparent one-off pricing without a membership gate, we're purpose-built for that. If your job needs multi-process (FDM + SLS + CNC + IM), SD3D is better equipped. No hard feelings — pick the right tool for the job.
Does TAKT 3D write this compare page in a biased way?+
We try not to. Every "they win" row in the table below is called out explicitly — and the "Pick SD3D Printing if…" list is deliberate. We'd rather keep a customer who picks a competitor this time and trusts us next time than push a bad fit.
How recent is this comparison data?+
Last updated April 2026 from the competitor's public website (https://sd3d.com) and third-party review sources. If you spot something stale, email support@takt3d.com and we'll re-check.
