TRANSPARENT PRICING

Real 3D printing prices. Published.

PLA starts at $0.035/cm³ with a $5 flat setup fee and a $20 order minimum. Other materials multiply from there. No form to fill, no "contact us for a quote" — every number is on this page.

Per-material pricing ($/cm³)

These are the exact per-volume rates our pricing engine uses. Multipliers apply to every order, every part, every time. Quality preset and infill add their own multipliers on top (shown below).

HDT = Heat Deflection Temperature. Tensile = tensile strength at yield. Prices shown are the base per-cm³ rate at standard quality / standard infill — see the configurable multipliers below.

Quality (layer height) multiplier

Thinner layers take more passes → more machine time → higher price. Thicker layers are faster and cheaper at the cost of visible layer lines.

Infill (density) multiplier

Hollow parts are cheaper. Strong functional parts need denser infill. Pick Light for cosmetic, Standard for everyday, Strong for load-bearing.

How your quote is calculated

  1. Part price = (volume × $/cm³ × quality mult × infill mult × 1.10 failure buffer) or (print hours × machine rate × material mult) — whichever is higher — × 1.5 markup.
  2. Line total = part price × quantity
  3. Subtotal = sum of line totals across every part
  4. After discount = subtotal × (1 − bulk discount)
  5. After rush = post-discount × rush multiplier
  6. Pre-tax = post-rush + $5 setup + shipping
  7. Minimum order floor is $20. Orders below are bumped up.
  8. Tax = pre-tax × 7.75% (CA sales tax)
  9. Grand total = pre-tax + tax

Pricing questions, answered

How much does 3D printing cost?+
At TAKT 3D, PLA prints start at $0.035/cm³ with a $5.00 setup fee and a $20 order minimum. A typical palm-sized prototype (15–25 cm³) runs $8–$15. Carbon-fiber nylon (PA6-CF30) is 3.5× that, about $0.12/cm³. See the full material table below for exact rates.
Why is FDM 3D printing priced by volume, not by weight?+
Volume (cm³) is what actually drives print time and filament consumption on an FDM printer. Weight only matters indirectly — a hollow 25% infill part weighs far less than its bounding box, but it still takes nearly the same machine time. Pricing per cm³ of model volume is accurate and predictable; pricing per gram punishes dense materials.
Do you have a minimum order?+
Yes — our minimum order is $20 (pre-tax). No quantity minimum, so you can order a single small part and simply meet the dollar floor. Most real jobs clear this easily.
Do bulk discounts apply automatically?+
Yes. Every quote on /quote auto-applies the bulk tier based on total units across all parts in the cart. You don't need to ask — the number you see already includes the discount.
What is the rush fee?+
Expedited (3 business days) adds 30% to the parts subtotal. Rush (1–2 business days) adds 60%. Both assume we have material and bed capacity — for large rush orders, call us to confirm.
Is shipping included in the quoted price?+
Shipping is a line item separate from the parts price. Local pickup from our San Diego shop is free. USPS/UPS Ground is $7.99 flat. Express (UPS 2-Day / FedEx) is $16.99 flat. Tax is applied to the taxable subtotal at 7.75%.
Why does Incept 3D not publish their prices?+
We can't speak to their choice, but we publish ours because we think buyers deserve to know before filling out a form. Every material, every quality preset, every bulk tier is printed on this page.
